This chapter reports on the use of digital story telling, as a means of encouraging student engagement and reflection. We piloted the use of digital stories, which are student generated MP3 files combined with digital photographs, in several disciplines and contexts at the University of Gloucestershire in 2006 and 2007. Our evaluations show that staff and students have found this approach to be a positive experience in encouraging student creativity. The nature of the stories created raised issues about how to evaluate student reflection and progression when using this approach. We explore these issues through a case study of students’ storytelling as part of undergraduates’ induction into Higher Education (HE).
